Recycling of plastic waste:

👉There is a TON OF PLASTIC! And this is the biggest reason for its recycling.

👉 Plastic Recycling is the process of recycling materials into useful products.

👉Largely all the plastics used in the world are non-biodegradable in nature, hence recycling becomes the only solution globally to reduce the waste and curb pollution reluting from it.

👉 We can optimize the lifespan of plastics by recycling it into a new product to be used again and again and so on.

👉Nearly all types of plastics can be recycled, however the extent depends upon their chemical component, economic and logistic factors.

 👉For the process of recycling, Plastics are basically categorised into bio-degradable and non-biodegradable plastics and then another important aspect is their marking.As an aid to recycling, the BPF recommends marking of all plastics with appropriate identification code.

Method of recycling:

Broadly, there are two major ways to recycle plastic:

 (1) mechanical recycling ("chop and wash"), where the plastic is washed, ground into powders and melted, and

 (2) chemical recycling, where the plastic is broken down into basic components. Before recycling, most plastics are sorted according to their resin type.

Uses of waste plastic:

👉Plastic roads mainly use plastic carry bags, disposable cups and PET bottles that are collected from garbage dumps as important ingredients of the construction materials.

 👉By using plastic waste as modifier, we can reduce the quantity of cement and sand by their weight, hence decreasing the overall cost of construction.
