What is Material Balance

Hiii, this is Parmar Akshay.I am introducing about the MATERIAL BALANCE .

👉 A chemical or process plant required to carry out transformation of raw materials into desired product effectively, economically  and safely.

👉 Material and energy balance calculation provide us the bassis against which the actual performance of processing unit can be assessed.

👉Material and energy balance help us         to

    (1).To evaluate specific consupticon of             material and energy.

    (2).To evaluate losses of material and              energy.

    (3).To find out reason for                  malfunctioning      of process unit.

👉Law of conservation of mass:

     Matter can neither be created nor                 destroyed during a process.

👉 Classification of material balance               problem:-

     Material balance problem of process           are  classifiedinto two categories as                follows:-

     (1). Material balance with chemical                    reaction.

     (2).Material balance without chemical               reaction.

👉 Each of these are further classified into

      1.Stady state operation.

      2.Unstady state operation.

1.   Steady state operation:

      Under steady state,the value of variable         associated with operation do not                     change        with time.

2.   Unsteady state operation:

     Under unsteady state operation,the values of variable associated with the operation  change with time.
